Vivant Energy, the power arm of Cebu-based conglomerate Vivant Corp., has secured a 15-year Power Supply Agreement to deliver a dependable new electricity source for Siquijor as the island’s energy demand accelerates.
The agreement, signed on December 30, followed a successful Competitive Selection Process conducted by the Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative. Under the deal, Vivant Energy contracted 11 megawatts of capacity from its diesel power plant in Barangay Bogo, Maria, Siquijor. The supply will serve Larena, Lazi, Maria, San Juan, Enrique Villanueva, and Siquijor municipalities.
For PROSIELCO, the partnership marks a turning point. General Manager Glenn Galvan said the cooperative is optimistic that once the plant is completed, households and businesses will gain access to stable and dependable electricity, supporting daily life and commercial activity across the island.
Reliable power is critical as Siquijor emerges as one of the Philippines’ fast-rising tourism destinations. The province led the Negros Island Region in gross domestic product growth in 2024, expanding 7.9 percent to P13.78 billion from P12.77 billion a year earlier, underscoring the need for resilient infrastructure.
“It has long been Vivant Energy’s thrust to prioritize largely underserved areas,” said Eric Omamalin, vice president for off-grid solutions. “We believe progress starts where the grid ends. Beyond building a business, Vivant is helping build communities by delivering sustainable solutions that improve everyday living.
Through long-term partnerships and durable investments, Vivant Energy continues to extend reliable power to communities where growth potential is high and dependable electricity can make the greatest difference.
With the PSA, the company reinforces its off-grid strategy while supporting local development, job creation, investor confidence, and long-term energy security for residents, enterprises, and visitors alike across the island.
