Globe recorded 216 theft incidents involving cables, batteries, generators, fuel, and other equipment across Laguna, Cavite, Oriental Mindoro, and Albay in just one year ended April this year. Laguna, the telecommunications company said, had the most cases at 67, followed by Cavite with 46; Albay saw a more than fourfold jump in incidents in 2026.
The thefts disrupt internet and mobile services, affecting homes, businesses, schools, government offices, and emergency response efforts. Globe officials stressed these are not just property losses but threats to livelihood, education, and public safety.
The company is urging residents, barangay officials, and leaders to report suspicious activity near network facilities. Reports may be filed with local police or via Globe’s security hotlines: 0917 688 8545 (nationwide) and 0966 200 3600 (South Luzon).
Telecom infrastructure is classified as vital public property; theft or tampering carries criminal penalties under Philippine laws. So far, 53 cases have been turned over to the PNP. Globe said it will continue working with LGUs and authorities to protect facilities and maintain reliable service.
