Following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address on July 27, Globe reaffirmed its support for the goal of making internet affordable and dependable across the country. The company noted that healthy competition among telecom providers drives continued investment, encourages responsible business practices, and ensures efficient use of vital communications resources—all key to better service and faster national digital progress.
In his address, the President stressed that good, affordable internet makes online learning and remote work possible, and identified digital transformation and readiness for artificial intelligence as key national goals to boost the Philippines’ standing in the world.
“Reliable connectivity is today’s fifth utility,” said Globe Telecom president and CEO Carl Cruz. “As more people rely on digital services, the government can help businesses by creating an environment where long-term investments lead to real industry growth, lower costs for consumers, and consistent, supportive policies.”
Globe explained that building better networks requires large, ongoing spending on infrastructure and new technology. It urged policymakers to write rules that keep markets fair while supporting long-term sustainability. The recently signed Konektadong Pinoy Act is expected to improve service by making it easier for new providers to enter the market. Globe added that all providers should make real investments and meet clear service standards to ensure quality for the public.
The company also highlighted its recent recognition: Ookla named Globe the Philippines’ Most Consistent Mobile and Fixed Network for the first half of 2026. It further stressed that airwaves, a limited public resource, should be managed to maximize coverage, improve service quality, and benefit all Filipinos.
These steps match the government’s vision of a digitally empowered nation, where connectivity supports education, new ideas, financial access, public services, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.
“The Philippines’ digital future depends on strong cooperation between government, regulators, and industry,” Cruz said. “With the right support for investment and innovation, we can bring more digital opportunities and better connectivity to more people.”
