Security Bank turns employee entrepreneurship into scholarship support for 75th anniversary

Security Bank marked its 75th anniversary by channeling employee business spirit into community good, with proceeds from the annual People’s Fair Marketplace going directly to the Security Bank Foundation’s Regalo Mo, Kinabukasan Ko Scholarship Program. Held at SMX Convention Center Manila, the long-running event gathered employee-run ventures from across the bank, where all exhibitor participation fees were donated to fund educational assistance for underprivileged learners.

Now in its 16th year, the scholarship program supports children of agency-hired personnel—including janitors, security guards, messengers, drivers and other support staff—alongside the staff themselves. For the 2026–2027 academic year, 87 scholars will receive financial aid, expanding access to education for families with limited resources.

For many employees, the fair offered a chance to grow personal business while contributing to a shared cause. Kimberly Malka Soner, a relationship manager in corporate banking, noted that knowing booth fees would fund the foundation’s work made participation even more meaningful. “It’s a great opportunity to sell while giving back,” she said.

Jan Jethro Puzon, also from corporate banking, joined to support both the scholarship mission and his wife’s home baking business. “Joining the People’s Fair was a chance to support a cause I care about while also cheering on my wife’s baking business,” he explained, adding that giving back has long been part of his personal values.

The event also fostered community and purpose across departments. Jose Gil Puey IV, an officer in the Information Technology Group, said the fair let participants showcase products, connect with colleagues, and advance student success all at once. Tristan Joseph Legaspi from the Business Banking Segment encouraged scholars to stay determined, urging them to “keep your persistence and drive for continuous education, and remain hopeful that your determination to finish your studies will eventually be rewarded.”

As a core part of the bank’s community efforts alongside the Foundation’s Adopt a Scholar campaign, the People’s Fair has become a key annual initiative. It stands as a clear example of how Security Bank unites its workforce around shared goals, turning individual enterprise into widespread opportunity and reinforcing the bank’s commitment to building brighter futures for its people and the broader community.
