Parqal has opened Pawgrounds, a dedicated pet park giving dogs and their owners space to walk, play, and socialize as pets become an increasingly visible part of Filipino leisure time.
The walkable development’s new amenity reflects a broader shift in pet ownership. TGM Research’s 2026 Pet Ownership & Lifestyle Insights found that 57 percent of Filipinos consider their pets family members, while 54 percent said they were spending more on pet-related products and services than they did the previous year.
That shift is changing how families spend their free time, with pets increasingly joining morning walks, weekend outings, and café visits. For property operators, it is creating demand for spaces that can accommodate both people and their four-legged companions.
Rather than simply allowing pets in common areas, Parqal has given them a dedicated setting.
Pawgrounds provides room for outdoor activity while creating a natural meeting point for pet owners, potentially turning a routine walk into another reason to visit the development.
“We’re opening a space where simple walks can turn into adventures, playtime can turn into friendships, and everyday moments can become memories,” said Guia Kristinne Pajimola, Parqal operations manager.
For Parqal, the amenity also adds another layer to the development’s appeal. When pets are part of the family outing, destinations that accommodate them can have an edge in attracting and retaining visitors.
By opening Pawgrounds, Parqal is responding to a consumer habit that is increasingly shaping how families use commercial and mixed-use spaces, while giving pet owners one more reason to linger.
At Parqal, the family outing now has room for everyone, including the four-legged members.
