As Filipinos mark All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day this coming November, the Manuel V. Pangilinan‑led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has assured customers of round‑the‑clock crew readiness to address any power issues within its service franchise during the holiday period.
Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said the utility firm has put its teams on 24‑hour standby to keep electricity safe and reliable as families gather to honor and remember departed loved ones. While physical Meralco Business Centers will be closed November 1 to 2 for the Undas observance, customers can still get support anytime through the company’s digital platforms, social media pages, and hotlines.
Alongside its holiday preparedness plan, Meralco is reminding the public to follow basic electrical safety steps before leaving home for the long weekend. The utility advises households to turn off and unplug appliances when away for several days, avoid overloading outlets with multiple devices, keep wiring and connectors dry at all times, refrain from running electrical cords under rugs that can damage insulation, and store flammable materials away from outdoor lights and heat sources.
Beyond holiday readiness, the company noted it is also operationally set to handle possible effects of the ongoing El Niño weather pattern, which typically brings higher temperatures and greater electricity use. Meralco said its facilities, systems and response teams are prepared to maintain stable power supply amid projected demand increases. Zaldarriaga added that with higher temperatures expected to push power consumption up, simple daily energy‑saving habits can help customers manage usage and keep electricity bills in check.
