Ayala-led group proposes ramping up connectivity across GIDAs via government subsidy program

The Ayala Group that owns Globe Telecom has advanced the idea for the government to help pay for the cost of connectivity across the archipelago by a subsidy program allowing the telecommunications players to beef up their presence even in so-called geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas or GIDAs.

Residential housing prices continue to rise in 2Q 2024

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said residential housing units of various types continued to increase in the April to June quarter.  Residential property prices rose 2.7 percent year-on-year, slower than the 6.1 percent growth in Q1 2024. On a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis, housing prices accelerated to 1.8 percent versus only 1.1 percent growth in Q1 2024.

BSP reports improved 3Q indices in both business and consumer sentiment

The business confidence index rose across the Philippines in the third quarter to 32.9, up from only 32.1 just a quarter earlier, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas reported on Friday.

Economic Development Group endorses RCEF extension, rice fund hike to P15 billion

The Economic Development Group, chaired by Secretary Frederick D. Go, supports extending the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund until 2030 and increasing its annual budget to P15 billion from the current P10 billion.
