Globe Telecom’s 5G expansion reinforces leadership and empowerment in the digital economy

Globe Telecom Inc. is setting a new benchmark in the Philippine telecommunications sector with the launch of 587 new 5G sites across the country. The investment is designed to meet the growing demand for high-speed mobile services and enhance Globe’s leadership in the industry.

The newly deployed sites have expanded Globe’s 5G coverage to 98.69 percent of the National Capital Region (NCR) and 96.95 percent of key cities throughout the Visayas and Mindanao, connecting over 106 towns across the archipelago. With a strong focus on delivering superior mobile experiences, Globe’s 5G network is now more accessible than ever to Filipino consumers.

Joel Agustin, Globe head of service planning and engineering, said, “With our enhanced 5G coverage, we are delivering improved mobile experiences to our customers. Our investments in network infrastructure reflect our dedication to providing equal access to the digital economy for all communities in the Philippines.”

The demand for 5G services is evident, with over 9 million devices connecting to Globe’s 5G network in December 2024 alone. The rise in connectivity highlights the increasing reliance of Filipinos on fast and reliable mobile data, a trend that is expected to accelerate in the coming years.

Globe is also focusing on hyper-personalization in its 5G offerings, ensuring that customers get the most tailored experience in the industry. As activity in the 5G space continues to gain momentum, Globe is positioning not only as a local leader but as a global player. The company has formed strategic partnerships with 168 inbound and 182 outbound 5G partners in 99 destinations worldwide, further extending its footprint on the global telecommunications map.

The 5G expansion is part of Globe’s broader network enhancement strategy, which includes building 1,212 new cell sites, upgrading 4,613 existing LTE mobile sites, and deploying 67,456 fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines in 2024. These moves are designed to optimize existing infrastructure while ensuring more efficient capital expenditure.

In its continuous efforts to improve connectivity, Globe is committed to strengthening its network to provide seamless, reliable experiences for its customers. This will not only drive customer satisfaction but also fuel the country’s economic progress and technological innovation.
