LG Philippines collects 1.2 tons of e-waste for Earth Day 2026

LG Electronics Philippines (LGEPH) marked Earth Day 2026 with an employee-led e-waste collection drive, gathering about 1,200 kilograms of discarded electronic items from March 31 to April 21.

The company said the collected waste was turned over to an accredited hazardous waste partner for proper disposal. Employee volunteers also joined the destruction of e-waste at LG’s warehouse in Pasig City.

The activity is part of LG’s wider sustainability efforts. Globally, the company reports a recycling rate of over 95 percent and has collected more than 5 million tons of e-waste to date. LG also operates electronic waste collection and treatment services in 89 locations across 54 countries, including the Philippines, where the program started in August 2022.

E-waste includes items such as televisions, computers, mobile phones, batteries, and small appliances that are broken or no longer in use. Improper disposal can harm the environment by polluting air, water, and soil.

LG said the initiative aims to promote responsible waste disposal, encourage employee participation, and support environmental awareness. Managing Director Nakhyun Seong said Earth Day highlights the importance of everyday actions in building sustainability and that the program reflects the company’s commitment to responsible innovation.
