InLife honors Filipino women driving change

This Mother’s Day, InLife, the Philippines’ first and largest life insurer, wasn’t just celebrating moms—they were celebrating moms on a mission. Women who juggle kids, careers, and communities like acrobats, and somehow still manage to change the world before lunch.

The occasion marked the seventh anniversary of the InLife Sheroes Advocacy and Movement, with the theme “HERizon: Seven Years Forward.”

The movement recognized women whose combined efforts have touched a staggering 16.3 million lives. Many are mothers who decided that nurturing shouldn’t stop at the front door; they extended it to entire neighborhoods, towns, and even the nation.

“InLife Sheroes has always been about purpose. It is about helping women reclaim their voices and making sure those voices echo far and wide,” said Nina D. Aguas, InLife Executive Chairperson.

And echo they do through programs that build confidence, skills, and communities, everyday women are stepping up as unstoppable forces for change.

This year’s Sheroes Awards highlighted the #StartWithin campaign, a clever reminder that transformation begins from the inside. It is about building inner strength and turning it into mentorship, action, and ripple effects that lift everyone around you.

Among the awardees, Mina Ballesteros of the Gelacio I. Yason Foundation-Family Farm School, which is redefining rural education. She helps young Filipinos honor their heritage while opening doors to opportunity, proving that farming and ambition can go hand in hand.

Cherilyn Secillano, founder of Dwellbeing, transformed a personal caregiving experience during the pandemic into a social enterprise that blends inclusive employment, community-based suppliers, and social giving programs. Her company shows that business can have a beating heart and still thrive.

Imelda Nibungco and her team at FPTI, meantime, have been turning young women and mothers into skilled professionals, breadwinners, and community role models—basically everyday superheroes in sensible shoes.

The InLife Sheroes movement reminds us that leadership does not always come with a corner office. Sometimes it comes with a casserole dish, a mentor’s hand, and the courage to care beyond your own front yard.

Change, it seems, runs on women—and a little bit of heart, a lot of grit, and perhaps a cup of strong coffee.
