Bureau of Internal Revenue has joined the pilot rollout of the Department of Information and Communications Technology–led National Single Window–Integrated Trade Facilitation Platform (NSW-ITFP), marking a key step in the government’s push to digitize trade documentation and strengthen tax administration.
The BIR, alongside the National Tobacco Administration, completed User Acceptance Testing for its Electronic Authority to Release Imported Goods (eATRIG) system, enabling its integration into a centralized digital platform that consolidates import-related regulatory processes.
Once fully operational, the system is expected to replace manual and fragmented procedures with a unified digital workflow for import clearances, improving processing speed and reducing administrative bottlenecks for traders and logistics operators.
For the BIR, the integration is seen as a major efficiency upgrade, allowing faster document processing, improved compliance monitoring, and real-time data exchange that enhances transparency and reduces discretion-heavy steps in import transactions.
BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said the initiative supports the agency’s Digital and Data Transformation agenda under the DARES Reform Program, aligning with broader government efforts to streamline public services and modernize revenue administration.
The NSW-ITFP is designed to eventually link 72 trade regulatory agencies, positioning the BIR at the center of a more interconnected, data-driven trade and tax ecosystem that strengthens enforcement while improving ease of doing business.
