FWD, Security Bank launch scholarship for future leaders

FWD Life Insurance (FWD Philippines), in collaboration with Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI), has launched the FWD–Security Bank Future Leaders College Scholarship Program, aimed at supporting the college education of deserving children of Security Bank agency personnel.

The initiative will provide annual tuition and stipend assistance starting in the academic year 2024–2025 through 2027–2028.

FWD Philippines president and CEO Soon Liang Lau said the program reflects FWD’s commitment to empowering Filipino youth through education and financial literacy. “As the insurer of the next generation, we believe that by touching more lives through education, we can empower aspiring leaders to build their best futures,” Lau said.

SBFI chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr. emphasized the foundation’s belief in education as a tool for social mobility, expressing gratitude for FWD’s support in nurturing future leaders. SBFI serves as the corporate social responsibility arm of Security Bank and has long focused on education-centric initiatives.

The partnership also marks the 10th anniversary of collaboration between FWD Philippines and Security Bank, aligning with the bank’s broader mission to “enrich lives, empower businesses, and build communities,” said Security Bank president and CEO Sanjiv Vohra.

The scholarship initiative responds to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, which reports that 10.7 million Filipinos aged 5 to 24 are out of school due to socio-economic challenges.
