GCash democratizes stock trading with partner InvestaTrade

GCash has upgraded its GStocks feature through a strategic partnership with InvestaTrade, the stock trading arm of Investa, to deliver a more accessible and beginner-friendly investing experience within its mobile app.

Announced Wednesday, the enhanced GStocks PH aims to simplify local stock investing by enabling users to register, fund, and begin trading within minutes. The upgrade also integrates educational content and community-based learning to support financial literacy and ease stock selection for first-time investors.

“Financial tools only work if people actually feel ready to use them,” said Arjun Varma, general manager for wealth management at GCash. “This partnership is about meeting people where they are and giving them room to grow at their own pace.”

Investa, known for democratizing access to financial education since 2015, brings a user-centric platform designed to help Filipinos better understand the market. “We’ve always believed that investing should be made accessible for every Filipino,” said Investa CEO and co-founder JC Bisnar. Investa CTO and co-founder Airwyn Tin added that the collaboration leverages both firms’ tech strengths to simplify the learning curve for new investors.

Despite the availability of digital investment tools, stock market participation remains low in the Philippines. According to the Philippine Stock Exchange, only 4.1% of the country’s estimated 70 million adults had stock market accounts as of June 2024.

GCash, operated by Globe Fintech Innovations Inc., said the revamped GStocks PH platform is part of its broader mission to break down barriers to investing, particularly for underserved market segments.

Fully verified GCash users with updated Know Your Customer (KYC) details can access the upgraded service via in-app registration.
