Globe expands high-speed internet in BASULTA

Globe Telecom is strengthening digital access in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi through a major network upgrade led by a new 48-core, 175-km submarine cable linking Zamboanga, Isabela City, and Sulu. Cable surveys start in early 2026, with completion targeted by mid-2027. Once live, Isabela City will serve as a key regional hub for high-capacity internet.

Globe says the expansion supports rising data demand and boosts opportunities for homes, schools, and small businesses, aligning with government efforts to connect remote communities.

The project is part of Globe’s broader modernization, which has shifted over 600 towns across 70 provinces to fiber. The company has invested ₱228 billion in capex and ₱236 billion in opex over the past three years. GFiber Prepaid continues to grow, now reaching 400,000 homes and contributing to Globe’s 1.83 million broadband subscribers.

Globe says these efforts aim to build “digital bridges” that strengthen local economies and advance nationwide connectivity.
