PHINMA Corp. is deepening its investment in the fast growing Visayas hub of Bacolod City after breaking ground for TRYP by Wyndham Bacolod, a lifestyle hotel designed to anchor its Saludad township and capture the city’s rising tourism and business activity.
The project will serve as the flagship hospitality partner of the Saludad development and marks the third TRYP property in the Philippines under PHINMA Hospitality. The hotel is being developed with joint venture partner JEPP Property Corporation.
Company executives and local officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya.
The new hotel signals PHINMA’s broader strategy of building integrated townships that combine education, housing and hospitality to spur regional development. The Saludad project aims to create a self contained urban community while strengthening Bacolod’s position as a tourism and investment destination in Negros.
PHINMA Hospitality chairman and chief executive officer Jose Mari del Rosario said the hotel is designed to reflect the city’s distinct identity rather than simply replicate a global brand template.
“The goal is not just to build another hotel in Bacolod, but to build a hotel that feels unmistakably Bacolod,” he said.
Design elements will draw inspiration from the vibrant MassKara Festival and the region’s long standing sugar industry heritage. Interiors will incorporate deep violet hues, sugarcane textures and decorative features inspired by caramelized sugar.
According to Raphael B. Felix, president and CEO of PHINMA Properties, the project will elevate Saludad’s profile while generating jobs and economic opportunities for the local community.
Beyond hospitality, Saludad will also host the first campus of Southwestern University PHINMA outside Cebu, alongside residential developments Maayo Terraces and Likha Residences.
PHINMA Chairman and CEO Ramon R. del Rosario Jr. said Bacolod’s strong growth prospects make it an increasingly important investment destination for the group.
