Prime Infra hosts Japanese officials at Batangas LNG facility

Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. (Prime Infra) hosted a Japanese delegation during a visit to its liquefied natural gas (LNG) complex in Batangas last Friday, the company said Wednesday.

The visit highlighted efforts to strengthen the Philippines’ natural gas infrastructure and ensure long-term energy security. It was organized with joint venture partners Tokyo Gas and First Gen, and forms part of activities under the Asia Zero Emissions Community (AZEC), which promotes regional cooperation on sustainable energy.

The Japanese delegation included representatives from key government agencies, the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines, and members of parliament. Former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and lawmaker Ken Saito emphasized the importance of continued Philippines–Japan cooperation on energy development.

Discussions focused on maintaining a stable energy supply amid global uncertainties. Natural gas was identified as a practical solution to meet the country’s energy needs while supporting the transition to renewable energy.

Prime Infra reaffirmed its commitment to developing critical gas infrastructure to support this transition. Company executive Donnabel Kuizon Cruz said reliable natural gas facilities will be essential as the Philippines expands its renewable energy capacity and works to meet rising power demand
