Goldilocks shifts Cebu plant to solar power

Goldilocks Bakeshop has partnered with First Gen to operate a new solar power facility for its production plant in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, marking a major step in the bakery chain’s sustainability efforts.

The companies inaugurated a 516-kilowatt-peak solar photovoltaic system on May 14, 2026, under a 10-year solar power purchase agreement signed in 2025. First Gen built and will maintain the facility, which supports Goldilocks stores across Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete, Masbate, and Siquijor.

Goldilocks said the project helps lower electricity costs, improve power stability, and increase its use of renewable energy. The company, which has more than 1,000 stores in the Philippines and branches in North America, said it is already seeing benefits from generating part of its own power through solar energy.

The partnership highlights the growing shift of major Philippine businesses toward cleaner energy as companies seek to cut operating costs and reduce carbon emissions.
