Mega Sardines lands in 2,750 Kroger stores nationwide

Filipino canned sardines brand Mega Sardines has secured a major foothold in the US mainstream grocery market, entering at least 2,750 stores of supermarket giant Kroger as Mega Global Corp. accelerates its international expansion.

Mega Global Chief Growth and Development Officer Marvin Tiu Lim announced the milestone, describing the listing as a breakthrough for the homegrown brand’s push into the global market.

“We are thrilled and proud that Mega Sardines is the first and only Filipino brand that has been listed in at least 2,750 US Kroger stores for the mainstream American market to enjoy the world’s freshest sardines!” Lim said in a social media post.

The Kroger rollout gives Mega Sardines access to a broad US consumer base and moves the brand beyond Filipino and Asian specialty channels into mainstream American grocery retail.

That distinction could prove significant for Mega Global as it seeks to turn an established Philippine food brand into an international consumer name. Placement across thousands of stores provides not only wider distribution but also visibility among consumers who may have little familiarity with Filipino brands.

Lim credited Mega Global’s team and TTA, led by Jim Lafferty, for driving the US expansion.

“Thank you to our team and TTA led by Jim Lafferty for leading this, on to the next few countries to be the world’s number 1 sardine brand by 2027,” he said.

The expansion comes as Philippine food companies increasingly look overseas for growth, using the country’s manufacturing capabilities and distinctive food products to build international brands.

For Mega Sardines, the US listing could become a springboard for wider distribution and additional market entries. Establishing a presence in mainstream retail also gives the company an opportunity to build brand recognition beyond the Filipino diaspora.

Mega Global has set an ambitious target of becoming the world’s No. 1 sardine brand by 2027, making the Kroger listing an important step in its international growth strategy.

The company now plans to pursue additional markets as it builds on its US foothold and expands its global retail footprint.
