Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), a joint venture of Airbus and Singapore Airlines, will install an A220 full-flight simulator (FFS) at its Singapore campus, serving the entire Asia Pacific region. Operations start Q4 2027.
The new facility meets fast-growing demand for A220 pilot and maintenance training. Services will be delivered in partnership with Flight Training Alliance (FTA), Airbus’s authorised A220 training provider and a CAE–Lufthansa Aviation Training joint venture. FTA supplies the simulator; AATC manages operations and training delivery. The announcement was made today at APATS 2026 in Bangkok.
“Establishing A220 training here is a strategic enabler for Airbus’s Asia Pacific growth,” said AATC General Manager Silvia Meloni. “It gives regional airlines convenient, world-class training closer to home, supporting safe, efficient fleet rollout. We expect demand to keep rising as the programme gains momentum.”
The hub is a key milestone in Airbus’s customer-near support strategy, targeting top safety, efficiency and reliability standards. With a 3,600 nm (6,700 km) range, 25% lower per-seat operating costs and 100–160 seats, the A220 is ideal for growing regional routes. As of late July 2026, 532 A220s have been delivered to 25+ operators, with total orders surpassing 1,100 aircraft.
AATC, located at Seletar Aerospace Park, offers full A220 type-rating and recurrent training with certified instructors. It is one of Airbus’s largest global training centres, with 10 FFS bays and capacity for up to 10,000 trainees yearly.
