Filipino consumers embrace AI service, demand transparency

Filipino consumers are warming to artificial intelligence (AI)-powered customer service faster than their regional and global counterparts, creating opportunities for businesses to improve customer engagement while raising the stakes on transparency, data privacy and personalization.

The 2026 State of Customer Experience Report by Genesys found that 64 percent of Filipino consumers have become more positive about AI-powered service over the past two years, outpacing the Asia-Pacific average of 56 percent and the global figure of 50 percent.

Yet growing acceptance comes with clear conditions. Some 98 percent of Filipino respondents want to know when they are interacting with AI, while 58 percent want control over their personal data, underscoring the importance of disclosure and consumer choice as companies expand automation.

Personalization is another key expectation, with 84 percent saying AI should improve how services are tailored to their needs. Meanwhile, 73 percent reported that chatbots have made resolving customer concerns easier, suggesting automated tools are gaining traction when they deliver practical benefits.

The commercial implications could be significant. The report found that 91 percent of Filipino respondents would recommend a company after a positive customer experience, while 87 percent would be likely to make repeat purchases and 85 percent would consider buying additional products.

For businesses, these findings point to a potential link between effective customer service and customer loyalty, although meeting rising expectations will require more than deploying chatbots.

Genesys Philippines, Thailand and Indo-China Country Manager Kulachart Ngernpermpoon said increasing exposure to AI is reshaping consumer expectations in the Philippines, a market serving both domestic customers and international business process outsourcing clients.

On the enterprise side, 62 percent of Philippine customer experience leaders plan to deploy AI-powered tools, ahead of the Asia-Pacific average of 55 percent and the global figure of 47 percent.

Genesys Asia Vice President Mao Gen Foo said companies must move beyond isolated AI applications and integrate the technology into broader operations.

“AI is no longer just another tool,” Foo said, emphasizing the need to redesign business operations around customer outcomes.

The challenge for Philippine companies will be turning enthusiasm into lasting trust, ensuring AI investments deliver faster, more personalized service without sacrificing transparency or control.
