ACMobility opens Bohol’s first public EV charging hub

ACMobility has opened what it calls Bohol’s first publicly accessible electric vehicle charging hub, extending its Visayas network and adding charging infrastructure in a province where tourism and inter-island mobility could help drive EV adoption.
The facility, located at the newly opened Kia dealership along C.P.G. North Avenue in Tagbilaran City, has two 7-kilowatt alternating-current chargers accessible through Evro, ACMobility’s partner charging app.
The opening adds Bohol to the company’s Philippine EV Spine network, giving residents and visitors another option as they consider switching to electric vehicles.
“The island province of Bohol is an important connector within the Philippine EV Spine,” said Carla Buencamino, ACMobility head of mobility infrastructure.
She said the charging hub and Kia dealership would make electric mobility more accessible while supporting the local economy.
Kia Philippines dealer principal Louise Camille Lumapas said access to charging infrastructure could help ease concerns among prospective EV buyers.
“Regardless of whether fuel prices are high or not, the important thing is that there is freedom of choice because there is availability,” Lumapas said.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap welcomed the facility as a boost to the city’s push for innovation and environmental responsibility, saying it could also strengthen Bohol’s appeal to tourists and investors.
Public charging stations could encourage residents and visitors to explore the island by EV, complementing efforts to protect its natural attractions, she said.
ACMobility said the opening could lead to more charging stations across the province, although it did not specify a timetable or planned locations for further expansion.
The company’s Philippine EV Spine network now covers more than 240 charging locations and over 600 charge points nationwide.
Expanding that network beyond major urban centers could help make EV ownership more practical, particularly for travelers who need reliable charging options outside established metropolitan routes. Bohol’s new hub is a step in that direction, though broader coverage will be needed to support longer journeys across the island.
