Flag carrier considers direct flights to Paris

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is considering expanding its operations to include flights to Europe.

Capt. Stanley Ng, PAL president and chief operating officer, said the airline is studying direct flights from Manila to Paris in France.

“This is still in the pipeline, however, due to supply chain issues and pending delivery of the plane. We’re still figuring out the right time to do that,” Ng said at the aviation forum the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) co-hosted with San Miguel Corp. (SMC) on Monday.
Separately, PAL said in a statement it is expanding its network by reopening flights between Clark and Siargao starting 3 December this year.

“We are excited to fly and welcome leisure travelers back to Siargao via Clark once again,” said PAL Express president Rabbi Vincent Ang.

“As Siargao’s popularity soars, we stay committed to supporting the island’s tourism growth in a sustainable way for the benefit of its residents and local businesses, while providing an enhanced flying experience for our passengers,” he added.

The thrice weekly Clark-Siargao-Clark direct flights will provide ease and convenience for residents of Central and Northern Luzon as there shall be no more need to go to Manila by land to fly to Siargao.

Noel Manankil, LIPAD Corp. president and CEO, said the new service from Clark to Siargao will enhance connectivity and bring Siargao within closer reach for travelers from Clark. The consortium LIPAD Corp. manages and operates Clark International Airport.

“Siargao enthusiasts can anticipate beginning their island getaway immediately upon arrival at Clark International Airport where we practice stringent performance measures and monitoring to ensure fast airport processes and seamless experience for all passengers,” he said.

PAL will operate thrice weekly flights between Clark and Siargao using the 86-seater De Havilland Dash 8-400 Next Generation aircraft.

Siargao joins the growing number of destinations from Clark International Airport where PAL offers daily flights to Cebu, four weekly flights each to Basco and Busuanga (Coron), and thrice weekly flights to Caticlan (Boracay).

The new Clark-Siargao service complements PAL’s twice daily flights to Siargao from Manila and Cebu for a total service of 31 weekly PAL flights to Siargao.
