The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Wednesday that it is putting in place safety measures at all airports likely to be affected by Super Typhoon Inday.
“As part of standard weather contingency plans, airports managed by CAAP have been instructed to secure communications gear, navigation systems, control towers and other key facilities to withstand strong winds and heavy rain,” the CAAP said. It added these steps follow official guidance from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
Airport operations are still running normally for now, but CAAP noted it is keeping a close watch on weather changes, and will take extra action if conditions require it.
The agency also advised passengers to keep checking flight announcements and weather updates regularly, as safety preparations continue amid the threat of Super Typhoon Inday.
