Air Canada has launched its new non-stop service between Vancouver and Manila beginning today, 3 April, further strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia. This route solidifies the airline’s position as the leading North American carrier for non-stop flights to the region and supports Canada’s broader Indo-Pacific strategy.
Mark Galardo, executive vice president at Air Canada, emphasized the route’s significance in connecting the Filipino-Canadian community—over one million strong—and boosting tourism, trade, and connectivity between the two nations. “As the only Canadian carrier flying to the Philippines, this service offers a faster, more convenient travel option,” he said.
British Columbia premier David Eby also welcomed the new flight, highlighting its potential to enhance economic ties and better connect the province’s 170,000 Filipino Canadians with their families and businesses.
The Manila route is Air Canada’s 12th transpacific destination from Vancouver, which also serves major markets in Asia and the Pacific. The airline will offer over 180 weekly flights to the Pacific in summer 2025, further cementing its leadership in the market. This expansion follows recent additions to Southeast Asia, including Singapore and Bangkok, and reflects the airline’s strategy of increasing seat capacity to fast-growing markets.
