Fraudulent DPWH projects to cost engineers their licenses

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has signed an agreement with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to permanently revoke the professional licenses of employees found guilty of involvement in substandard or “ghost” infrastructure projects.

The move comes in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that all DPWH projects nationwide are legitimate, high-quality, and beneficial to the public.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon emphasized the need for a strong partnership between the DPWH and PRC to hold erring personnel accountable and prevent future irregularities.

“It’s not just about accountability, but also about safeguarding the institutions and the projects of the DPWH moving forward,” Dizon said during the signing ceremony with PRC chairman Charito Zamora.

Dizon also called on the PRC to revoke the licenses of former DPWH district engineer Henry Alcantara and other staff allegedly involved in anomalous flood control projects in Bulacan.
