DHL Express is ramping up its push into heavyweight air cargo with the worldwide rollout of Heavy Weight Express (HWX), a new premium service aimed at businesses needing faster and more dependable delivery for large shipments.
The new Time Definite International offering can move cargo weighing up to 1,000 kilograms per piece and as much as 3,000 kilograms per shipment, expanding DHL Express’ capabilities across more than 220 countries and territories.
HWX combines express-speed delivery with end-to-end shipment control, proactive monitoring, and transparent pricing, targeting companies seeking to avoid delays and cost swings common in traditional freight services. The service also includes specialized handling for high-value, regulated, and shock-sensitive cargo.
DHL Express CEO John Pearson said the launch reflects the company’s broader strategy to deepen its role in global supply chains as industries face mounting volatility, tighter production timelines, and growing financial risks tied to shipment disruptions.
To support the expansion, DHL Express has set up dedicated Heavy Weight Priority Desks worldwide to manage proactive tracking, exception handling, and direct customer coordination for critical shipments.
The company said HWX is designed for industries where delays can trigger major operational and financial setbacks, including technology, automotive manufacturing, engineering, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, and energy.
DHL Express added that the service leverages its global aircraft fleet, logistics hubs, customs operations, and last-mile delivery network to deliver more stable and predictable shipping operations worldwide.
