GAC expands Philippine hybrid push with GS4 MAX

GAC Motor Philippines is widening its hybrid lineup with the launch of the GS4 MAX HEV, offering Filipino families a more accessible entry into electrified mobility as competition in the country’s hybrid vehicle market intensifies.

Priced at P1.298 million, with an introductory price of P1.218 million for reservations until Sept. 30, the hybrid SUV combines fuel efficiency, long driving range, and family-oriented space.

“With the introduction of the GS4 MAX HEV, we are thrilled to offer modern Filipino families a high-value hybrid SUV that balances practical comfort, reliability, and exceptional efficiency,” GAC Philippines General Manager Calvin Cheng said.

The GS4 MAX HEV uses a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine paired with a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, dual-motor system, and 2.1-kWh battery.

The powertrain produces 232 horsepower and up to 300 Nm of motor torque, with a claimed combined driving range of up to 1,250 kilometers on a full tank.

The new model expands GAC’s electrified vehicle strategy and adds another option to its SUV lineup, which includes the GS3 EMZOOM, EMKOO, and GS8.

Beyond fuel economy, GAC is pitching the GS4 MAX HEV as a practical family vehicle. It has a 2,750-mm wheelbase, fold-flat second-row seats, a panoramic glass roof, and rear air vents.

Safety and driver assistance features include a Level 2 driver assistance suite and surround-view cameras, adding technology aimed at making the SUV easier to operate in everyday conditions.

GAC is also expanding the infrastructure supporting its growing vehicle lineup. The automaker now has 30 dealerships nationwide, a dedicated parts warehouse, and hybrid-system warranty coverage of up to eight years or 150,000 kilometers.

The GS4 MAX HEV enters a market where automakers are rapidly adding hybrid and electric models, giving consumers more choices as fuel efficiency and ownership costs become bigger considerations.

For GAC, the new SUV is a play to move hybrid technology beyond the premium segment and into a larger family-oriented market, where price, range, space, and after-sales support can determine adoption.
