Green GSM is pushing deeper into the Philippine ride-hailing market with an electric premium taxi service, seeking to carve out a higher-value niche as competition shifts from fares toward comfort, capacity, and service.
The company on Tuesday launched Premium Taxi, a seven-seat service using an all-electric fleet of VinFast Limo Green vehicles. The service initially covers Makati, Taguig, Mandaluyong, and Pasig.
The offering is Green GSM’s second service tier in the Philippines after Green GSM Car and gives the company a foothold in a segment aimed at families, business travelers, groups, and passengers with more luggage.
The move comes as ride-hailing companies look beyond standard sedans to differentiate their services in an increasingly crowded market. Green GSM is pitching the larger vehicle, quieter electric drivetrain, and upgraded cabin features as reasons for passengers to choose its premium tier.
The black Limo Green vehicles have three rows of seats, automatic air-conditioning, dedicated vents for the rear rows, and an air-filtration system. Electric powertrains eliminate tailpipe emissions, fuel odor, and much of the engine noise associated with conventional taxis.
Green GSM said drivers for the premium service are selected based on high service ratings. Fares are displayed through both in-vehicle meters and the company’s app.
Customers can book through the app, hail the taxis on the street, or use Green GSM’s customer service hotline.
The launch gives Green GSM another avenue to expand beyond its existing customer base while putting electric vehicles into a more visible role in urban transportation.
It also raises the competitive bar for Philippine ride-hailing operators, where the next battle may be less about securing the cheapest ride and more about selling passengers a better one.
